Porsch 993 911 GT2 Racer WIP08 by Pisci Porsch 993 911 GT2 Racer WIP08 by Pisci
update! =)

I put a bitmap on the taillights, changed the shape of them because they were kinda wrong. Then I've modeled the complex vents on the wing and I added those fast clips on the boot. What I've also added are the bolts that hold the wide body on the rear fender! I quite like it so far.

C&C please?

Thanks in advance

a real pitty! I want to finish it of one day though! I never did a better and more detailed one, so I really want to get this one done!

The windows on racing cars are a bit different, they are kinda glued on, so there wount be any "wrinkles" in car geometry to improve aerodynamics, from the references i have found, the rear wheel arch lugs are wrong :) exhaust system is a bit different :) [link] also side-skirts a are a bit wrong :)

Such a great model, but those taillights kill it. But overall nice, it got potential.

I'll change them :D I also think that they look crap, but hey it was worth a try :D I'll keep on modeling exterior details before I get back to tail lights! thanks for your comment =)

I love that car! If I find blues I'll make it, but I think that I will spend a lot of time with this one as it is very complex and I have got a lot of reference pictures out of which I'll take the most details :D

can't wait!

thanks for the comment

I'm not a fan of bitmapped lights, and i think it'll take away from the quality of the whole car :P (unless its actually a sticker of course)
Other than that, i don't know if you have this in planning, but you should add a little chamfer on those slots in the bumper, it adds substance to it (looks very modeled now)
I think theres a slight dent in the roof btw.

Overall i'm very impressed with the model.. i think from the clays and the reference, it looks very accurate!

I know! I would really like to model the taillights but I honestly don't know how to do that! I mean the center part doesn't look that bad, but the sides really suck...I really don't know how to model those without making them look unreal. That's my greatest fear with modeling them.

YOu are right about the slots :D you know how I did those? refraction map ;) I thought it was brilliant, but then I realized that there was no depth! I'll add depth with the shell modifier then ;)

Thanks for saying it's accurate :) Was some hard work to get it so far! I'll check the roof again! thanks man.

btw, I've found the best reference pics in the word about 5 minutes ago! Now I can't wait to model it! There are awesome interior, engine, and tank pictures! this car will be the most detailed I've ever done. This time I can even be sure to be able to render it because of the 3GB switch (best thing I've ever used on my pc!!!!)

thanks for your comment, keep on watchign ;)

It's not too hard modelling those lights.. it's just a lot of work, you can solve most of it with a normal map, and try modelling the larger parts by hand :)
